THE TEMPLE, a Paul Mitchell Partner School Pledges to Donate $10,000 to the Mental Health Association of Frederick County

THE TEMPLE, a Paul Mitchell Partner School, has made a pledge to donate $10,000 to the Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA) as part of their annual Paul Mitchell Schools FUNraising Campaign, which will take place from January through April 2014.

Each year, the nationwide network of Paul Mitchell cosmetology schools chooses charitable organizations to support by conducting grassroots events like Cut-A-Thons, hair shows, car washes, bake sales and “Casual for a Cause” days. In past years, THE TEMPLE has raised significant funds for the national organizations supported by John Paul Mitchell Systems (JPMS), but now JPMS is allowing a percentage of contributions to be donated locally.

Sharon and Charles Riser, co-owners of THE TEMPLE, chose MHA because of how the organization impacts the lives of past and current “future professionals” at their school. Also, the selection coincides with the national support for this type of cause; the Andrew Gomez Foundation was the first charity selected for support by JPMS and was founded to honor a successful Paul Mitchell School graduate whose struggle against mental illness ended tragically in suicide. The foundation helps cosmetology students, graduates, their families and cosmetology-related enterprises. Locally, MHA has served the community as a private, non-profit organization since 1965, and is a leader in creating services that respond to the changing mental health needs in our community.

“I have seen firsthand how MHA’s work has saved the lives of many of our students. Through support and compassion, MHA has made real and lasting changes in the lives of our future professionals, and we are more than happy to contribute to the organization that has done so much for us,” states Sharon on why the Temple selected MHA.
