Johns Hopkins Children’s Oncology Center, “Camp Sunrise”

On Thursday, August 6th, Future Professionals from Frederick and Annapolis visited Johns Hopkins Children’s Oncology Center, Camp Sunrise. Camp Sunrise is a week-long, overnight summer camp for children who have been diagnosed with or have survived cancer. Each year the highlight of the week is the Friday night dance! Future Professionals from both schools volunteered to do hair and makeup for the kids/teens staying in the hospital. Approximately, 100 girls were glammed up and felt beautiful for the dance!

Kelly Ann Dematos, Annapolis Future Professional, stated “This was such a great event! To be given the opportunity to pamper these young girls while they are so brave on the journey to beat cancer was amazing!”

Co-owner Sharon Riser shared, “It’s always an honor to be asked to work with such a great organization and especially Johns Hopkins. A little beauty can always make someone feel better!”
