A Day of Pampering for Operation Second Chance Caregivers
In May, the Temple hosted caregivers for a day of complimentary services as gratitude for their donation of time to a great cause – Operation Second Chance. THE TEMPLE, along with Richard & Susan Glover, planned a day of haircuts, hair color and manicures offered by Phase Two Future Professionals.
Trish Kaiser, a veteran who served in the Gulf War and our Education Leader and Co-Director, led the day’s events and services. She stated, “Having been enlisted, then subsequently a spouse to an enlisted soldier, I know how many hardships families in the military endure. Being given the opportunity to give these ladies time together, focusing on just themselves is priceless.”
The Glovers hosted lunch at their home for all the volunteers to relax and share some time together afterward. These caregivers remain motivated through tough times, identifying as key to their success — “working together, humor, pure interaction and support, and not dwelling on things.”
Operation Second Chance supports wounded, injured and ill combat veterans (70% of whom are disabled) and their families while they recover in military hospitals, by building relationships and identifying and supporting immediate needs and interests. In addition, they are dedicated to promoting public awareness of the many sacrifices made by our Armed Forces. http://www.operationsecondchance.org.
